My salon rec'd our brand new chip card reader machine last week, and we are about to throw it out the window! Aside from the installation nightmare, it has added a good 2-3 minutes to every payment transaction due to either system problems, freezing, or just the sheer number of steps needed to run a card/enter tips. Our bank has been reasonably helpful, but it seems like when one problem is fixed, a completely new one crops up. Going to an all cash format won't work for us, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had trouble entering the chip card reader world, and if offering cash payment incentives would help lower the number of credit card transactions. Any advice would be much appreciated!
