I read the Greenpoint Williamsburg Patch. Since it's hyper-local it helps me to hear about train service updates, severe weather warnings, crime, housing lotteries and other things only people who actually lived in my neighborhood would care about.
I just saw that they are offering "announcements" for $50 to be featured in your local patch. I can't speak to the return on investment, but it's certainly the least expensive advertising option outside of Facebook and I can vouch for the hyper locality of its readers. I read and often post from it!
