Checkout lines often frustrate customers, and there's good news on this front. All card brands now process and guarantee transactions without requiring a customer signature. Depending on the card brand and industry you're in, up to $25 or $50 can be charged without requiring a customer signature. For such "small tickets", a properly set up terminal will print a receipt with no signature line that says instead, "No Signature Required." There is no liability to the store, as long as you hold on to the merchant receipt for proof in case of a chargeback. Skipping the signature saves 20 seconds per customer. That's over 30 minutes every 100 customers. Skipping signatures saves real time and money. Are you doing this in your business?
