As a freelancer, cash flow is often an issue. When I've needed to purchase services or goods, I have used a bartering system with associates and friends. Trading skilled services such as cooking a gourmet meal, massage, personal shopping or fitness training sessions has been a great way to get around some of the lean times while still getting what you need.
