Carroll Gardens Association
Carroll Gardens Association (CGA) was founded in 1971, with a mission that included promoting small business economic development. Since then they’ve been organizing for affordable housing and community based economic development in southwest Brooklyn.
Carroll Gardens Association envisions a Brooklyn where residents and families of all income levels can live, work, and thrive in their communities. The organization’s immediate service area includes the neighborhoods of Carroll Gardens, the Columbia Street Waterfront District, and Red Hook, although the organization’s reach expands to the entirety of Brooklyn.
The Carroll Gardens Association partnered with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) to launch its Entrepreneur Assistance Program in 2012. The Entrepreneur Assistance Program offers resources to small businesses through workshops, and one-on-one counseling with entrepreneurs who wish to start a business or expand an existing business. CGA also partners with the Center for Urban Business Entrepreneurship (CUBE) of the Brooklyn Law School to offer free legal consultations to small businesses and non-profits.
As a network of local small businesses, Townsquared is pleased to partner with CGA to advocate for a strong local Southwest Brooklyn economy, and provide organizing and technical support to small businesses, freelancers, and entrepreneurs in Southwest Brooklyn.
