You know how to Love Local and Shop Local. Now, meet Work Local, courtesy of the Bay Area’s Localwise, an online local job community. Localwise supports Bay Area businesses by connecting local people to jobs at local businesses, and they’ve announced the 2016 Work Local Awards. Work Local is designed to help local businesses and communities thrive. Like Townsquared, Localwise was founded in the belief that stronger local businesses create stronger local communities, helping to create and sustain what we love about our neighborhoods. (You know the best coffee in your neighborhood is always the indie coffee shop!)

To celebrate these Bay Area small businesses, Localwise will highlight the best employers with a Work Local Award. Nominate your favorite business to help the best local employers get the recognition they deserve! The awards are presented by Localwise in partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Kiva Zip, OBDC Small Business Finance, and others. Nominations close on March 24, so be sure to get yours in soon!

Businesses can be nominated for Best Employer in one of eight categories: Food & Drink, Retail, Education, Startup, Nonprofit, Health & Fitness, Salon & Spa, Professional Services, and Most Community-Oriented Employer. Awards will also go to Best Manager, Best Co-workers, Most Diverse Team, Most Fun Place to Work, Best Employee Perks, Coolest Workspace, and Best Business Pet.

The winning businesses will have a photo featured on the Localwise Instagram handle and receive two free tickets to the Work Local Awards celebration, three free Localwise Premium job posts, and, of course, fame, glory, and bragging rights.

Work Local winners will be feted on April 28 at The Port Kaiser Center (aka Port Workspaces), 344 Thomas L Berkley Way, in Oakland, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Winning isn’t the only ticket to the party, of course. You can buy tickets at EventBrite for $25 and come meet fellow business owners.

If you’re interested in learning more about Localwise, posting a job or finding a job, check out their success stories or blog, or visit their Facebook page, Twitter, or Instagram feed.Don’t forget to share the local love by nominating your favorite local businesses today!
